In case no one else is aware of this yet, there is another danger present on the ship. Should you encounter anyone with what looks to be a jewel embedded into them, avoid them. [The comm clicks on, but for a long moment, nothing can be heard but faint, harsh breathing.]

No. Not here. Damn it, where-?

[A sharp intake of breath, a clatter as the communicator is dropped.]

NO.

[Silence. Silence. Then another ragged breath.]

[His tone is thoughtful, and he doesn't seem to be addressing anyone in particular. He might not even be aware that his communicator is on.]

Hmm. War makes for strange bedfellows. Who would have thought...?

Still, he is what he is and it's only going to get worse. I'll need to keep a close watch on him.
